Trip Journal

Not just Tulips, we’re taking a trip to Henry Ford’s Greenfield Village in Dearborn Michigan. You know you can’t always count on the tulips to be perfect. Come back here to see if this is the best year ever.

Right on time our tour starts to Detroit and onto the Holland Tulip Festival. Tonight we stay two nights in Battle Creek at the Holiday Inn.

It is a perfect day. Sunny, high 70’s with a light breeze. We started at the Ford F-150 pickup factory. A couple of films then onto the production line to watch the workers. A new pickup comes off the line every 60 seconds. No photos here. Next, Ford Museum of American Innovation. If it was invented in America, it might be here, and not just Ford products. Cars, trains, planes, house fixtures and many historical items. Next to the museum is Greenfield Village.  A 250 acre city with a train ride with authentic Model Ts giving rides to our group around the city. A full day in Dearborn and we’re back on the bus to our hotel in Battle Creek.

Wonderful weather in Holland Michigan today. Sunny and cooler just the weather tulips love. At Windmill Island there were so many different colors throughout the park. We drove down some of the tulip lanes and even more flowers spread throughout the city. After lunch, over 6 million tulips at the Veldheer Tulip Farm. They had demos of Delft Painting and wooden shoe carving. This is one of the best years for blooming.

We were right on time until Madison. We sat on the highway due to an accident for close to an hour. We passed the time playing bingo and watching a dvd. We did enjoy our tour despite the surprises.
