Trip Journal

We have updated our Ark Encounter with a trip to the Krohn Conservatory and Butterfly exhibit along with the American Sign Museum. We’ll Kiss the Bricks at the Indianapolis 500 Speedway just fresh after the big race last Monday when Josef  Newgarden had his second consecutive win  at Indy.

June 4, 2024 Tuesday

We started our vacation with a good travel day to Indianapolis. We encountered some slow traffic and construction n in the Chicago area but we were very close to our schedule.  The main thing is we had plenty or time for dinner and happy hour at the Drury Inn.

June 5, 2024 Wednesday

It was a humid day at the Ark. The predicted rain never came which worked out good. The Ark is an amazing structure built to Bible specifications. It’s our chance to view the Ark inside and out and the details of how the animals were housed and to see the living quarters. Outside, there are live animals in a small zoo. In other buildings, there is a beautiful carousel, entertainment with gospel music, a large dining hall, and a gift shop. In the Cincinnati area we stay the next two nights at the Drury Inn.

June 6, 2024 Thursday

t is a wonderful sunny day. We had a local guide board our bus for a city tour of the Cincinnati area. Starting in Kentucky and crossing the Ohio river into Cincinnati we heard stories and saw many famous landmarks. We then went to the Krohn Conservatory with the best part being the butterfly house. After lunch, we went to the American Sign Museum for a guided tour, so many signs, neon and painted. Back at the hotel we had a break then went for dinner and show. The show tonight was a favorite, the Church Basement Ladies.

June 7, 2024 Friday

Another sunny day with temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s. Our first stop at the Creation Museum was a great Biblical stop  about the creation of earth and mankind. We spent the morning here. Our afternoon stop was the kiss the bricks tour around the Indianapolis 500 speedway. Great photos and wonderful weather. Tonight we’ll stay at the Drury Inn in Lafayette Indiana.

June 8, 2024 Saturday

We were a little ahead of schedule by lunchtime, but in the afternoon we are encountering rain showers. First real rain on our tour, so happy it’s on our last day.
