Four buildings full of history, exhibits and stories. At night we went to the New Orleans Cooking school and a tasty dish of crawdads, rice, spices and for dessert, flaming Bananas Foster. Mid 60’s all day and cloudy.
February 27 – 2019 – Wednesday- Sprinkles this morning gave way to sunny skies and 80 degrees. Today we had a city tour of New Orleans with a stop at a cemetery. For lunch we were in the French Quarter, so many things to see, Bourbon Street, St. Louis Cathedral and street performers. Later, we toured Mardi Gras World, that’s the place where they make the floats for the parades. Tonight we’ll watch the parade and post even more photos later.
February 28 – 2019 -Thursday-When we left, it was a bit foggy but we could still see the Superdome on our way out of town. We stopped at Kleiberts Alligator and turtle farm. We learned so much and our host was very entertaining and a star from the TV series Swamp People. We were all offered a chance to hold an alligator and a snake- lots of fun. Tonight we will be at Sams Town Casino Hotel in Tunica Mississippi.
March 1 – 2019 – Friday-We left Sams Town for downtown Memphis with a stop at the Bass Pro Shop. Such a unique setting for a store. Inside a glass pyramid. Inside are pools of fish, a bowling alley and lots of merchandise. Tonight we’ll arrive in Effingham Illinois at the La Quinta.
March 2, 2019 – Saturday-Our last day driving home. It’s getting colder and colder. What a shock is is to see all the snow. We had a great time in the warm weather, back to reality.
