Trip Journal

Niagara Falls is spectacular and we have more than just the falls on this tour. The Dodge Mansion in Detroit, Lucille Balls Museum and the Comedy Center in Jamestown NY plus, a trip through Indiana Amish country. So much to see- come back and check our photos. We have another identical tour departing in September.

May 17, 2026 Sunday

It was a good travel day. No rain, moderate traffic and when we arrived in Battle Creek,  it was 80 degrees.

May 18, 2026 Monday

A sunny day as we toured the Matilda Dodge Wilson Mansion. 88,000 square feet, the 4th largest home in America, we heard interesting stories about the life of  Matilda and her home. This afternoon we crossed the border into Canada and checked into our hotel. The Hyatt is located on the rim of the Niagara Falls. We have great views of the falls as all our rooms face the falls with some rooms above the 40th floor. Each night there is fireworks at 10:00 PM. All we have to do is look out the window of our room.

May 19, 2026 Tuesday

A beautiful day to spend in Niagara Falls. First went went to the base of the falls for a wet ride aboard the Hornblower. Great pictures and a lot of fun. At the Floral Clock nearly everyone posed for a sunny photo with the working clock. A stop at the Butterfly Conservatory was a fun walkthrough before lunch. For lunch, high in the revolving restaurant above the falls in the Skylon Tower. One more stop at the Floral Showcase for the yearly hydrangea show.  Some free time at the visitor center, or a walk behind the falls all with a free ride back to the hotel at our leisure aboard the incline railway. Another firework show tonight at 10:00 PM.

May 20, 2026 Wednesday

A storm passed through last night ending our warm days. Today it was cloudy and in the low 60’s. That’s ok because today is an indoor museum day. Stopping in Jamestown New York, the hometown of Lucille Ball, we had a great tour of the Lucy Desi Museum. Costumes, TV sets and lots of memorabilia, it was a great way to spend the morning before we had a catered lunch in Ricky Ricardo’s Tropical  Night Club. Our next stop was the National Comedy Museum and although many people have never heard of it, it was a very entertaining afternoon. Tonight we stay at the Drury Plaza in the Cleveland area.

In Shipshewana Indiana today, we had a scrumptious buffet of homemade Amish favorites. We had some time for shopping and then we had a local guide directing us to a wood basket shop and a leather craftsman. Tonight we get free money, a food voucher and exquisite hotel rooms at the Four Winds Casino.
