March 17, 2026 Tuesday

The snow storms have all passed but icy spots remain on the highway to Albert Lea. After that it kept getting warmer throughout the day reaching 54 at our destination city El Dorado Kansas.

March 18, 2026 Wednesday

Much more enjoyable weather today reaching into the 70’s. At the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, everyone had a favorite section. It could have been the paintings, the displays of TV and Western Movie Stars or the special exhibit on Route 66. It was a wonderful morning and in the afternoon we had a nice stop at the Texas Welcome Center. A great photo opportunity and we were on our way. Tonight we stayed south of Fort Worth in Hillsboro at the Holiday Inn Express.

March 19, 2026 Thursday

In Austin, the Capitol of Texas we saw the Capitol building in the distance then had time to tour the Texas State History Museum. It was another excellent museum. Arriving in San Antonio, we checked into the Hampton Inn then the riverboats came right to our hotel for an introductory tour of San Antonio. Mid 80’s and sunny. Tonight we have a chance to walk across the street to the San Fernando Cathedral for spectacular light show.

March 20, 2026 Friday

87 today under sunny skies. This morning at the San Jose Mission we had a nice walk through the compound to the mission church and the Park Museum. We had lunch and shopping at the Market Square then went to the IMAX to watch the Price of Freedom -the story of the Alamo. At the Alamo we entered the church and on the grounds there were multiple story boards about life and the battle.

March 21, 2026 Saturday

Traffic seems heavy even on a Saturday. For lunch we stopped at Chip and Joanna Gains Magnolia Marketplace in Waco. It wasn’t too crowded but that changed at the Fort Worth Stockyards for the daily cattle drive. Huge crowds and mid 90’s. We had some free time for shopping before we checked into the hotel. Tonight we will see a full blown rodeo at the Cowtown Coliseum.

March 22, 2026 Sunday

Sunday’s a good day to tour a large city like Dallas. We went to the JFK 6th Floor Depository Museum and saw the grassy knoll and the point of contact of the assassination. Other highlights included Pioneer Plaza and a drive by the mansions of the rich and famous. This afternoon we toured the Southfork Ranch and museum of the TV series Dallas. Tonight we stay at the Worlds Largest Casino, Winstar World Casino.

March 23, 2026 Monday

This morning we stopped in Oklahoma City for a tour at the National Memorial. It’s jacket weather and windy. A Park Ranger led our group around the property explaining the events of the bombing and the layout of the Memorial. TonightWe will we will stay at the Hampton Inn in the Kansas City area.

March 24, 2026 Tuesday

Our last day and we are getting reacquainted with our home town weather. This morning we had a good stop at an Amish Marketplace in Iowa. Many treats and food purchases were made for later. Lunch today is the Pizza Ranch in Des Moines and later this afternoon we’ll all be home.
